Poconos-based Mt. Airy Casino Resort on August 8 announced that it will be teaming up with Canadian gaming company, The Stars Group to offer full state internet betting options in Pennsylvania. This will include both online poker and sports betting.
According to Mt. Airy, the partnership with The Stars Group will encompass offerings consisting of slots, poker, and casino table games – this will be availed as soon as it receives as the gaming company receives a license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). Mt. Airy was one of the nine licensed land-based casino operators that applied for the state’s interactive gaming licenses last month.
The Stars Group currently holds licenses in 19 countries and owns a range of online gaming brands such as the BetStars, Full Tilt, PokerStars, PokerStars Casino and Sky Bet among others. These brands are proof that the company has what it takes to take full advantage of the Keystone State’s nascent gambling market.
In fact, under the partnership agreement, The Stars Group will be providing Mt. Airy Casino customers with a single account, common wallet, various online and mobile depositing and withdrawal methods, as well as a seamlessly integrated offering of betting and gaming options. In addition to this, the group will be using its existing proprietary technology and player account management platform in the state.
“We’re excited to take this next step as The Stars Group looks to broaden its presence in the United States,” said Matt Primeaux, senior vice president of strategy and operations, USA at The Stars Group. “In partnership with Mount Airy Casino Resort, we believe we’re well positioned to capitalize on opportunities in the Commonwealth by bringing our world-leading offerings to Pennsylvania players.”
Mount Airy’s move to offer online sports betting is a clear indication that it is preparing to charge forward with a number of offerings designed to take advantage of the state’s nascent sports betting market that is set to kick off as soon as the state regulators complete drafting regulations for the industry.
“As one of Pennsylvania’s leaders in entertainment, offering internet sports wagering and gaming and partnering with The Stars Group is the obvious next step for us to continue diversifying our casino offerings,” said Vincent Jordan, vice president of marketing and gaming operations for Mount Airy. “Introducing internet gaming through The Stars Group will provide compelling opportunities for our customers, particularly our younger customers, who are ready to experience the next gaming challenge.”
